China To Ban Players From Block Contracts NBA
The Chinese Association of Basketball will limit incurred NBA players to play for national teams in the event of the season is canceled, but will still allow free agents, state media reported Friday.The CBA would ban players under contract, such as Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. They and others had expressed interest in playing in China, if the NBA lockout continues and cancel all or part of the 2011-12 season.
CBA said it will host free agent NBA players, but will force them to play a full season in China, Xinhua news agency reported.
Xinhua further restrictions would be announced before the start of the season November 20 Chinese. He said the contracts would be designed to discourage players diving for reasons such as questionable or suspicious lesions without verifying the family problems at home.
CBA officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
